We're at the half way mark ❄️

It's already halfway through the year and winter, and I can't help but feel a tad bit jelly of those lucky ones who are enjoying their holidays in Europe. It seems like everyone I know is there right now, while we're here braving the cold. We're trying to make up for it though, with some delicious Greek Moussaka, Slow Cooked Lamb and Yemista, paired with Greek wine and Tasmanian made Koumozo Ouzo. Despite our efforts to not feel left out, deep down we know that it's never quite the same. Nevertheless, we remain here, acknowledging our reality. Sigh.

Not Elaia related, but I have to share. I stumbled on this a little while ago and became obsessed. Discover "Maestro In Blue" - a hidden gem on Netflix that captures the essence of Greece. This addictive series takes place on the picturesque Ionian island of Paxos, where a passionate Greek music teacher orchestrates the local Music Festival. Brace yourself for a whirlwind of romance, drama, murder, and suspense, all set against the backdrop of a sizzling summer on Paxos. Oh, and did we mention the incredible soundtrack? Don't miss out on the summer vibes of "Maestro In Blue"!  Like I said, not Elaia related, but hey you could be enjoying one of our Zesti Pizzas and Lamb Souvlaki whilst watching it!

Finding Peace Amongst the Chaos
Recently, I had the privilege of participating in a Mental Health First Aid course instructed by the incredible Bianca Welsh (Mental Health Educator, Stillwater and many many other things https://fromexperience.co/). This course was truly transformative and wished it was around in our early days of hospitality. For far too long, we've been conditioned to believe that the hospitality industry is synonymous with stress and chaos. We've worn anxiety, stress, and burnout as badges of honor, believing that enduring the chaos is just part of the job. But it doesn't have to be that way. I have a deep love and appreciation for hospitality: the sense of community, the skills we put to use, and the incredible individuals we meet. Sadly, this industry has also seen talented employees and remarkable owners succumb to the overwhelming stress it can bring.
In an effort to enhance the last few years of our time in the hospitality industry and leave a positive impact, we invited Bianca to do a Health and Wellbeing in the Workplace Workshop with our Managers and Leaders. They found it equally as transformative and we have since then not only implemented a Health & Wellbeing Policy, but we are proud to announce that Jaime-Lee, one of our esteemed long-term team members, has been appointed as the Health & Wellbeing Coordinator.
As a leader herself, Jaime-Lee will now have the opportunity to collaborate with other team leaders, managers, and supervisors, serving as a valuable link between management and team members. Despite being a small business with a tight-knit team, we strongly believe that investing in the health and well-being of our employees is crucial in creating a workplace that prioritizes their overall well-being and safety.

And to finish off, don't forget our all-day breakfast and Greek-inspired lunch menus. Elaia offers a delightful fusion of casual dining and authentic Greek flavors, perfect for any time of the day. Our cozy and inviting atmosphere is perfect for casual winter dining, whether it's a planned event or a spontaneous get-together. We welcome everyone – just come as you are!
