Tassie Pinot, Ouzo and Summer

Launceston is the place to be this month. With visitors exploring the city, locals making the most of the season, and the vibrant energy of summer still in the air, there’s plenty happening, especially at our end of Charles Street. While the days are getting shorter and chillier, summer isn’t over just yet, and a few more exciting local events are keeping the city alive.

We always welcome walk-ins, but if you’re planning to dine with a larger group, we highly recommend booking in advance. Our cosy space fills up quickly, and it can be tricky to accommodate bigger groups at the last minute.

Kitchen Hours:
Wednesday to Saturday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Sunday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Takeaway available during all opening hours. Pick up or delivery via Uber Eats

Pinosity - Mt Lord Dalrymple Pinot Noir

"One of the most remarkable Tassie wines of my life"... Matthew Jukes 19+/20

This caught my eye last year when it was released and thought I had to get it in for you. I'm thrilled to introduce something truly special — Mt Lord Dalrymple Pinot Noir. For nearly two decades, we’ve proudly listed Dalrymple wines, sharing a close friendship with winemaker Peter Caldwell. Now, I have the privilege of offering you what we consider the Rolls Royce of Pinot Noirs.

This exceptional wine is available at $130 per bottle and available in very limited quantities. Before I officially list it, I want to offer it exclusively to you.

If you’d like to reserve a bottle to enjoy next time you dine with us, simply email me directly at ritsa@elaia.com.au, and I’ll put one aside for you.

Tasting Notes

On opening, notes of blue florals and olive emerge immediately. Aromas of liquorice and Doris plum, with hints of Asian five-spice and Tasmanian native herbs, create a complex and aromatic experience. The wine carries a brooding depth, revealing layers of flint and blueberry.

Fine natural acidity and powdery tannins balance its fruit profile of fresh plum, tamarillo, cured meats, and truffle. This youthful wine lingers on the palate, evolving into a beautifully earthy texture, with softened red fruits, cocoa notes, and a refined savoury complexity.

Perfect Greek Pairings

Mt Lord Dalrymple Pinot Noir’s silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and layers of fruit and spice make it an exceptional match for Greek/Mediterranean cuisine. Here are some perfect pairings:

Lamb Souvlaki and Slow-Roasted Lamb – The wine’s earthy depth and fruit-forward notes beautifully complement the rich, herb-infused flavors of roasted lamb or souvlaki.

Saganaki (Grilled Haloumi Cheese) – The wine’s acidity cuts through the richness of pan-seared Greek cheese, creating a perfectly balanced bite.

Grilled Octopus with Lemon & Olive Oil – Its minerality and hints of spice pair wonderfully with the smoky char and citrusy brightness of grilled octopus.

Moussaka – Layers of eggplant, béchamel, and seasoned meat bring out the wine’s complexity and velvety texture.

This is a wine made to be shared and enjoyed with great food. If you'd like to secure a bottle, email me directly by the end of the week, and I'll set one aside for you. First in, best dressed. To ensure everyone gets a chance, we’re setting aside one bottle per person per booking. Available by the bottle only and for on-premise enjoyment at Elaia.
