World Ovarian Cancer Day

It seems like five minutes ago it was Mother’s Day last year and now it’s upon us again!  This is a very special time of the year where you focus energy, attention and love on your mum.  We only get one mum and sadly for some of us, they won’t be with us this year to celebrate this special day.    That is why we (Elaia Café) have chosen to celebrate World Ovarian Cancer Day (May 8th) to honour those families that have lost their mums. 

On Thursday May 8th, Friday May 9th and Saturday May 10th, we are offering a Mother’s Day Set Dinner Menu.  Consisting of 4 courses at $70.00 per head (food only), 20% of the sales of each Set Menu sold to be donated to Ovarian Cancer Australia.   This is a fantastic non-profit organisation dedicated to raising awareness and contributing to Ovarian Cancer research.

Here is a photo of four generations of the women in my family. From the left is me with Zara, her mum Tanya, my niece Eleni with Zara's sister Meila and the Matriarch of the family my Mum, also Grandmother and Great Grandmother.   The only one missing is my gorgeous older sister Gloria (Eleni’s mum and Tanya’s mum-in-law) who we lost to Ovarian Cancer some 8 years ago.   Doesn’t matter how many years pass, we always think of her, share stories, laugh, cry and laugh some more!  .
